How are you reading this then? Ok, your on another computer so there is
nothing wrong with my site. Try altering your browser settings. Most
problems are due to the security settings being too high. If your on a
work or school/college network then maybe they have blocked certain
keywords or image content. Check with your admistrator (or wait until you
get home - you should be working lol) |
| When I click on a link I keep getting sent to your home page |
This is due to a security feature of my site to stop links from other
sources. If it happens from a link from my site then your browser has cached
the pages from a previous visit. To get round this,
when on my homepage click "Refresh" on your browser then use
the site's links to get where you want to go. |
| I click on the "Photos" link and I get the list of classes but when I click on them I just get a black or blank page |
This sounds like a known problem if you are using a Mac computer running
Safari. Unfortunately I can't give you an answer to this as I don't
own a Mac. The only workaround is to use Internet Explorer or Firefox
for the Mac. |
| I cannot see any links to past events |
Due to the sheer size of my website and it's high user traffic, all my
archive photographs are currently off-line. Events will be posted
as usual but will have a limited access time one or two weeks depending
on demand. This is usually plenty of time in which to place your order.
If you want to view an event from our archive please e-mail me and I will
send you a temporary link. |
| One of your links does not work as expected |
I am constanly updating the site in preparation for some new features.
I may still be uploading so try again in an hour or so. If it still doesn't
work I may have missed something. Please contact
me with the details. |
Ordering |
Can I order online? |
Yes you can. You may order 'Standard Prints' and 'Digital Files'
directly on-line using any Debit/Credit Card. If you wish
to order "Display" or "Canvas" prints it is still
better to e-mail your order to; event.orders@quantumphotographic.com An
invoice for the full amount will be sent by return which can be paid
using most major credit and debit cards. |
| Can I order over the phone? |
| Yes you can. Please call me on 01304 690590 to place your order. If you get answered by voicemail you can still leave your order. Just remember to leave your name & address along with a landline telephone number so that I can contact you if there are any queries. Please make your cheque out to "G Gott" (not Quantum Photographic) and put your name, address & telephone number on the back so that I can log the cheque against the correct order. |
| Can I pay by cheque? |
| Yes you can. Please make it out to "G Gott" (not Quantum Photographic) and put your name, address & telephone number on the back. |
| Where are the photos I ordered at the last show? |
| If you ordered at an event then you will usually receive them by the end of the week following the event. Occasionally, if I am very busy, this may extend to the start of the next week but this is very rare. If you have been waiting longer than two weeks then there has been problem. Please contact me as soon as possible. |
| Where are the photos I ordered over three weeks ago? |
| If you have ordered from the website then all work is done strictly on a first come first served basis unless previous notice is given for any birthdays etc. Printing is done in batches between other jobs. During the summer season the batches are fewer and the orders are greater therefore a backlog can sometimes occur. Out of courtesy I do not usually bank any cheques received for orders until they are ready to be printed. Even at busy times it is unlikely that any order will take longer than 28 days. |
Video |
| I cannot download the video files... |
| Some browsers are set up to play media files direct from the website.
If you do not have a fast enough connection or the right codec installed
it will just hang. Try right clicking the file and choosing "Save as ..."
or "Save to ..." choose a loctaion on your computer and click
"OK" or "Save". Once it has finished, try playing the file
from there. If you are trying to download to a work's or school's PC on a network then you may be blocked form downloading certain types of files by your firewall. Please see your system administrator. |
| I have downloaded the video file but I cannot play it... |
| To play the files you must have an Xvid codec installed on your computer.
A codec is a piece of software that enCOdes and DECodes a video file. All video files are coded in some way but you need to have the same decoder installed in order to play them. Xvid is getting to be a popular format because it produces a very high quality video with a small file size. Many people who regularly play media clips on the internet will have installed this codec already, possibly without even realising it. If you have a new or recent PC, the chances are that you will probably not have it on your computer yet. However, you can download it for free here. Make sure you follow the instructions. Once it is installed you will then have access to a wide range of video available on the internet. Remember, if you can play the preview clips you can safely order the full videos for download as they are exactly the same types of files except larger. |
| I have downloaded the Xvid codec but I still cannot play the videos. |
| Did you install the codec once you downloaded it? The Xvid codec need to be installed on your system so that your media player knows where it is so that it can use it. |
Copyright |
| Can I scan your prints to make copies? |
| It is against the law to make copies of a photograph without the express permission of the copyright holder. This is usually the person who took the photograph. In this case me. There are one or two exceptions to this but I will let you look this up for yourself. If you want to make your own copies then please purchase a "Digital File" and do it properly. But, please remember, I am still the copyright holder. You may not use the photograph for anything other than personal use. |
| Can I send my photo to a magazine? |
| The short answer is NO but with one exception. You may send a photograph or digital file that you have purchased from me to a magazine, website or any other form of medium, IF it is to accompany an personal advertisement for the non-commercial sale of the subject in the photograph i.e. horse/pony, dog or whatever. You may also use an image that has been downloaded from my website which has "© Copyright - Quantum Photographic" across it. However, this may not be very attractive so I would suggest purchasing a copy and sending that. Please refer the publication to this page if they request copyright permission. |
| If you wish to submit photographs to a publication/website for editorial use or a feature/story then please ask them to contact me directly with the details. Failure to follow this procedure will liable the publication for hefty reproduction fees. Please be warned! |
| May I use one (or more) of your images for a business venture? |
| Yes, of course you can. That is, once you have discussed it with me and we have negotiated an agreement that has been confirmed in writing. You will then be granted a license to use the image(s). |
